The Swede was sensational for Sporting CP last season, registering 54 goals and 13 assists from 52 appearances in all competitions.
Gyokeres will face a sterner challenge in English football, considering the Gunners tend to come up against low-block defensive teams.
Arsenal now need to decide whether to sign Gyokeres or pursue a deal for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko registered only 21 goals and six assists for Leipzig last campaign, but Arsenal could consider him as a better long-term signing.
He is five years younger than Gyokeres, who will turn 27 soon. The Slovenian has a higher ceiling and has yet to hit the prime of his career.
Sporting director Andrea Berta has made contact with Leipzig for Sesko, but the latest asking price of €110m could prove a road block.
Gyokeres seems the more likelier candidate to join the Gunners this summer.
