Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has lavished praise on former teammate Cesc Fabregas for his impressive debut season as a head coach, while warning that Serie A side Como could struggle to keep hold of the Spanish tactician this summer.
Henry and Fabregas, who shared a successful spell at Arsenal — winning the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and reaching the 2006 UEFA Champions League final — have both ventured into football management after hanging up their boots. While Henry has managed Monaco, CF Montréal, and the French Olympic squad, and served as Belgium’s assistant coach, Fabregas began his coaching journey at Como in 2023.
Having initially overseen the club’s U-19 and B teams, Fabregas was promoted to first-team head coach last summer. He quickly made an impact, guiding the newly promoted Serie A outfit to an impressive 10th-place finish. Como’s surge in the latter half of the season lifted them from relegation danger to the top half of the table, drawing admiration from across Europe.

Fabregas and Henry are both shareholders in Como 1907, deepening their personal and professional investment in the club’s success. But Fabregas’ growing reputation as a manager has reportedly attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Speaking on The Stick to Football Podcast, Henry praised Fabregas’ football mind and hinted that elite teams are circling. “I invested in Como 1907, and we did well this season. Cesc Fabregas did very well, and I have to give him a lot of credit,” Henry said.

“Not to go into too much detail, but a lot of clubs, I think, are coming for him. There are rumours of AC Milan and Roma. I think he must be the first coach in history that has shares in the club that he coaches.”
Henry, who played alongside Fabregas during the Spaniard’s breakthrough years at Arsenal, also spoke about Fabregas’ tactical intellect.
“Cesc was always a thinker. When he arrived at Arsenal, the way he broke into the team and how he was thinking about the game – I always said, there is a difference between playing the game and thinking about the game, and he’s a thinker,” he added. “When you speak to him, you can talk for hours about football.”
