Real Madrid names asking price for Arsenal’s most wanted summer target

Arsenal Football Club is reportedly considering a move for Real Madrid’s talented Brazilian winger, Rodrygo, as part of their transfer plans for the upcoming season.

According to sources in Spain, Rodrygo’s representatives have been sounding out the market to gauge interest from potential clubs, with Arsenal being one of the Premier League sides approached.

The Gunners’ manager, Mikel Arteta, is said to be in the market for a new attacking wide player, and Rodrygo is on the club’s shortlist alongside Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

However, signing Rodrygo is expected to be a challenging task, with Real Madrid demanding a hefty transfer fee of €80 million (£67.5m) for the 24-year-old.

Rodrygo has been an integral part of Real Madrid’s success since joining the club from Santos in 2018.

He has won 13 trophies during his time at Madrid, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League titles. The Brazilian winger’s versatility and skill on both flanks make him an attractive prospect for Arsenal.

Despite his impressive track record, Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain. His deal with the club expires in 2028, but Madrid are reportedly considering selling him this summer.

The club’s decision on Rodrygo’s future will reportedly be influenced by new manager Xabi Alonso, who takes over from Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season.

The potential sale of Rodrygo might be delayed until August, as Real Madrid are set to participate in the Club World Cup next month. This could give Arsenal a limited window to negotiate a deal before the transfer window closes.

Arsenal has also reportedly pulled out of the running to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, who becomes available on a free transfer next month after his contract expires.

The Gunners are said to be targeting a younger profile of attack than Sane, who turned 29 in January.

The pursuit of Rodrygo would be a significant coup for Arsenal, but the club will need to be prepared to meet Real Madrid’s asking price. With Rodrygo’s talent and experience, he could be a valuable addition to Arsenal’s squad, providing a much-needed boost to their attacking options.

While the challenge of signing him is significant, the potential reward could be substantial if the Gunners can secure his services.
