Real Madrid forward Rodrygo is really well liked at Arsenal but signing him could be tricky

Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo is really well liked at Arsenal but it does not mean they will recruit him this summer, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The Gunners have been linked with the 24-year-old Brazilian in recent weeks and in the past, but it remains to be seen whether both parties can strike a deal in the coming weeks.
Arsenal want to bolster their attacking options after falling short across all competitions in 2024-25, and Rodrygo fits the bill given his huge qualities, with Jude Bellingham dubbing him ‘the most gifted player’ in the Madrid squad back in February.
Several factors will have to be considered for the versatile forward to move to the North London club, and Ornstein is not completely ruling it out.
“Rodrygo is obviously really well liked at Arsenal but that isn’t surprising considering how good he is and it doesn’t mean they will recruit him,” the journalist said this afternoon.
“Again, loads of factors such as: What are the club-to-club, player and agent terms? Do Arsenal want to make a proper push? Is it affordable with all the other business they need/want to do?
“Would somebody have to leave and how likely is that? Does Rodrygo want to join Arsenal? Who else is in contention? Etc.”
The Gunners are reportedly open to selling £50 million-rated Gabriel Martinelli this summer having identified him as a valuable asset.
They reckon his sale could strengthen their budget during the summer transfer window, and using the funds to get Rodrygo could make sense.
