Only one Arsenal player included in the Premier Player of the season award nominee list

The Premier League has confirmed the nominees for its Player of the Season award with only one Arsenal player making the cut in the august list.

Mohamed Salah is the red-hot favourite to win the award, having fired in 28 goals and notched 18 assists for Liverpool.

Eight players from five different clubs have been shortlisted for the award. Liverpool dominates the list with three nominees: Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Ryan Gravenberch.

Van Dijk has been imperious in defence, becoming the first Dutchman to captain a team to the Premier League title. Gravenberch has recovered from a difficult debut season to establish himself in the No.6 spot.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice is the sole representative from the Gunners, despite them likely ending up as Liverpool’s closest challengers for the title. Rice has reached double figures for combined goals and assists, establishing himself as one of the division’s best midfielders.

Other nominees include Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood, and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. Gibbs-White has been one of the driving forces behind Forest’s stunning campaign, helping them qualify for Europe for the first time in 30 years.

Wood has scored 20 goals in the best season of his career. Isak has fired Newcastle into Europe, scoring 23 goals and putting him second in the Golden Boot race.

The trio from Liverpool will battle it out with five other players to win the award. Manchester City’s Phil Foden was crowned the winner last year, but none of Pep Guardiola’s squad make the cut following their dismal campaign.

The award will be decided by a combination of public vote and an expert panel. The winner will be announced before the final game of the season.

With the current form of the nominees, it promises to be an exciting conclusion to the season.
