Mikel Arteta sees Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku as a good option to add to Arsenal squad

Arsenal are among the clubs lining up a summer move for Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku as manager Mikel Arteta sees him as a good option to add to his squad, according to the Sun.

The 27-year-old Frenchman is out of favour at the Stamford Bridge club, but he is not short of suitors in the Premier League and has emerged as a potential target for the Gunners, who are desperate to boost their firepower in the final third.

Arsenal are set to finish the campaign in second place after failing to challenge champions Liverpool, and they are ready to pull out all the stops to go one better next season.

The Gunners want to recruit quality attackers during the summer transfer window, and Nkunku fits the bill despite his struggles at Chelsea.

His teammate Wesley Fofana once praised him and claimed the Arsenal target ‘finishes so well in front of goal’, and Arteta could do with such a forward as he looks to bolster his attacking squad depth.

Nkunku has 14 goals and five assists in 42 appearances this term with three goals in 11 Premier League games.

He notched 35 goals and 20 assists in 52 matches in 2021-22 while with with RB Leipzig, ending his last season with them with 23 goals and nine assists in 36 matches back in 2022-23 before moving to the Premier League.

Arsenal have had Nkunku on their radar for a while and could finally land him this summer as the Blues are open to parting ways with him, but his injury record could be a source of concern for some of the decision-makers at the North London club.
