Arsenal’s quest for a prolific striker has spotlighted Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, with recent reports indicating the Gunners are intensifying their efforts to secure the 26-year-old Swede’s signature. According to Football Insider, Andrea Berta has opened talks with Gyokeres’ representatives.
The newly-appointed technical director is aiming to finalise a deal early in the summer transfer window. Berta views the striker, who scored an astonishing 52 goals in 48 appearances this season, as an “instant starter” for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Gyokeres, with a reported transfer fee of €60m-€70m, is a hot commodity, attracting interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid. However, reports suggest Arsenal are frontrunners, with Berta pushing hard to outmanoeuvre rivals.

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg notes that a verbal agreement allows Gyokeres to leave Sporting for a reasonable sum, giving Andrea Berta a strategic edge in negotiations. The striker’s mobility, pressing, and clinical finishing align perfectly with Arteta’s high-intensity system, making him a prime target to address Arsenal’s need for a top-tier forward.
Despite competition, Gyokeres reportedly favours a move to Arsenal, drawn by their Champions League prospects and Arteta’s ambitious project.

Other reports that Arsenal have edged ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City, with the player open to joining the Emirates. However, Defensa Central claims Gyokeres’ agent has approached Real Madrid at the player’s request, though Los Blancos are unlikely to pursue him. This keeps Arsenal and Andrea Berta in pole position.
With Gabriel Jesus struggling for form and Kai Havertz not seen as a long-term solution, Gyokeres could be the final piece in Arsenal’s title-chasing puzzle.
Fans are buzzing with excitement on X, eagerly anticipating a potential marquee signing that could propel Arsenal to Premier League glory. As talks progress between Andrea Berta and Gyokeres’ agent, the Emirates faithful await confirmation of a deal that could redefine their attack.
