Leandro Trossard has urged his Arsenal teammates to put their trophyless campaign behind them and focus on making a fresh start next season, with the goal of “winning everything.”
The Gunners will play their final match of the season against Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium this afternoon, in what has effectively become a dead-rubber fixture. With Champions League qualification already secured and a third consecutive second-place finish all but confirmed, Arsenal’s focus is now firmly set on the future.
Despite entering the season with high hopes of winning their first league title in two decades and claiming their first silverware since lifting the FA Cup in 2020, Arsenal’s ambitions fell short. Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to mount a serious challenge to Liverpool for the Premier League crown and suffered disappointing exits in both the Champions League and Carabao Cup, bowing out in the semi-finals of each competition.

However, Trossard, who has been ever-present for Arsenal this season, featuring in every Premier League match, emphasised the need to move on from the setbacks. “I think you can speak as much as you want about this campaign, but it’s over now,” Trossard said. “So from next season, we start fresh and for everyone, it’s a new opportunity.”

The Belgian forward, who is reportedly in talks to extend his current contract through 2027, added: “It’s the same for us, and hopefully with everything we’ve had to go through this season – injury-wise and a couple of other things – we can start next season in a good manner. We want to win everything, whatever is possible.”
Injury woes have plagued Arsenal throughout the campaign, with key players such as Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel all sidelined for extended periods. Trossard acknowledged that these challenges, along with the tight margins that often define the outcome of a season, have made the difference in Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware.

“The small margins make a difference. I don’t want to talk about luck, but in one way, you need things to go your way as well in certain games,” he said. “Sometimes you need to force your luck by just keep pushing and pushing, and that’s what we are trying to do.”
As the season winds down, Trossard remained optimistic about Arsenal’s trajectory. “Every year we’re closer and closer, and that’s what we need to do next year. We need to keep pushing and push each other towards that – that’s the only way you can go for silverware. But let’s finish the season strongly first, then we can have a good feeling going into the off-season.”
With the final match of the campaign approaching, Arsenal will look to end on a high note, setting the stage for what they hope will be a more successful 2025–26 season.
