Arsenal have been urged to make a bold move for Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to become a free agent this summer. With manager Mikel Arteta preparing for an important summer transfer window, the Gunners are expected to reinforce key areas of the squad in a bid to end their long wait for a Premier League title.

Following a quiet January, Arsenal are set to back Arteta in the upcoming window, with a new striker and central midfielder high on the club’s priority list. While several targets have been linked, former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara has suggested an unexpected option: a move for De Bruyne.

The Belgian playmaker, widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history, has won six league titles with Manchester City and played a key role in their domestic and European dominance. However, he recently confirmed he is likely to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, O’Hara urged Arteta to act swiftly and attempt to bring De Bruyne to north London.

“Every team in the Premier League would take Kevin De Bruyne,” O’Hara said. “If he’s genuinely going to leave Man City, Mikel Arteta – who knows him well – should get straight on the phone and get him to come to Arsenal to help win the league.”

O’Hara believes De Bruyne’s experience and winning mentality could be the missing piece for Arsenal’s title push.

“I would be straight on the phone and give him whatever he wants. He’s a winner and still a top player who can make a huge difference,” he added. “It might be a schoolboy error for Man City to let him go. He could help Arsenal win the Premier League and be a massive player for that football club. I would pay him £300,000-a-week if it meant bringing him to Arsenal, 100%.”

De Bruyne, 33, remains one of the most influential midfielders in Europe, and any free transfer for a player of his calibre is likely to spark interest across the continent. Whether Arsenal pursue the former PFA Player of the Year remains to be seen, but the idea has certainly added intrigue to the Gunners’ summer plans.
