Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke has pledged significant squad investment this summer as the club looks to finally end their five-year wait for major silverware.

The Gunners’ trophyless streak extended through the 2023/24 campaign despite another strong Premier League showing and a memorable Champions League run that saw them reach the semifinals. With Sunday’s season finale against Newcastle at Emirates Stadium looming, Kroenke delivered a message of both reflection and ambition to supporters.

“We’re striving to win major trophies and, on the men’s front, we know we’ve fallen short of what we all wanted this season,” Kroenke admitted. The American executive praised the team’s resilience through injury crises but made clear that merely competing isn’t enough.

The club’s European campaign provided highlights, with Kroenke singling out the pulsating clashes against Real Madrid: “Our match here against Real Madrid was one of the best games and most electric atmospheres we’ve experienced at Emirates Stadium. The game at the Bernabéu will live forever with those lucky enough to have been there.”

Kroenke threw his support behind Mikel Arteta’s leadership, stating: “Mikel and his coaching staff, as well as the players, faced significant challenges this season. It’s in these moments you learn the most.”

With Champions League qualification secured for a third straight year and a second-place Premier League finish on the cards, Kroenke emphasised this represents just the foundation: “We’re still pursuing second place for the third year running, but we all want to win it.”

The co-chair’s most telling comments came regarding transfer plans: “We plan to invest to get behind winning and doing better next season.” He highlighted the importance of new sporting director Andrea Berta in this process, describing a “unified and strong team” working in “the Arsenal way.”

Kroenke’s message concluded with a rallying cry: “We’re as hungry for success as you are – that goes for everyone who works for the club.” The statement signals Arsenal’s intent to back Arteta in the market as they look to convert consistent top-four finishes into tangible trophies next season.
