Arsenal legend Ian Wright has admitted he would love to see Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes in a Gunners shirt, despite the contrasting fortunes of the two Premier League giants.
While Arsenal continue to challenge at the top end of the table and are on course for a third consecutive second-place finish, Manchester United have endured a difficult season and look set to miss out on Champions League qualification for a second successive campaign—unless they can win the Europa League.
Speaking on The Overlap, Wright confessed his admiration for Fernandes, stating: “I wish we had Bruno Fernandes. I would love to have him at Arsenal.”
The former striker’s comments come amid growing concerns about Arsenal’s creativity in the final third. While much has been said about the team’s need for a proven striker, the lack of invention behind the attack has also been highlighted, particularly with Martin Ødegaard enduring a dip in form.

Despite United’s struggles, Fernandes has remained one of their standout performers, registering 98 goals in 287 appearances since joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2020. His influence in the team has made him a target for Saudi Pro League clubs, but former United midfielder Paul Scholes has stressed the importance of keeping the Portuguese international.

“Bruno Fernandes has to stay because he’s the best player,” Scholes wrote in a column for TNT Sports. “He’s involved in nearly everything Manchester United do well. It’s quite clear they need to build around him.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s title hopes took another hit after a 2-2 draw with Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield. Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino salvaged a point after a disappointing first-half performance.
Manager Mikel Arteta did not hide his frustration post-match, saying: “What we did in the first half is nowhere near the level. We reacted, great, but that’s not acceptable. I hate reaction — I like action.”
He added: “If we want to be winning trophies, we cannot allow these moments. If you can’t win it, you have to be the best of the rest. I was really, really upset.”
