Frontpage story: Arsenal planning to sign three Sporting CP stars this summer

Arsenal are planning to sign three players from Sporting CP during the summer transfer window, according to Portuguese outlet Record (page 1&2).
The Gunners are preparing for a busy summer transfer window. A marquee striker and a versatile winger could be among the main priorities for the London giants.
A central defender could also be pursued if manager Mikel Arteta wants to add more depth in the squad.
In today’s frontpage of Record, it is reported that Arsenal are preparing ‘gunpowder’ to take Ousmane Diomande, Viktor Gyokeres and Francisco Trincao.
Arsenal’s head of scouting James Ellis was keeping a close eye on the trio during Sporting CP’s 1-1 league draw against Benfica at the Estadio da Luz where Trincao scored. Gyokeres bagged the assist.
Gyokeres is reportedly one of the prime striker targets for the Gunners while it is mentioned that Arsenal have looked at Diomande from his teenage years at Midtjylland.
Trincao is another name on their radar and they are prepared to double his current annual wages.
Arsenal could make surprise triple swoop from Sporting CP
Gyokeres has developed into a splendid goalscoring striker at Sporting CP. He has bagged a stunning 52 goals and 13 assists from 50 appearances this campaign.
He has a shot-to-goal conversion rate of 29 percent and has also impressed with his link-up play in the final third. He would be an upgrade on Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
It has already been reported that Arsenal have offered £63 million on the table, but Sporting CP hope to receive a higher package with London rivals Chelsea also in the race.
Meanwhile, Trincao has also transformed his career since his move to Sporting CP from Barcelona, initially on loan. He has registered 10 goals and 18 assists from 52 outings this term.
The 25-year-old can play on either wing but he is a specialist from the right. He has won an impressive 5.5 duels per game with more than two dribbles. He could be see as Bukayo Saka’s deputy.
The Portuguese has a release clause worth £51m in his contract, but could be signed for less.
Diomande has been a long-term target for the Gunners.
The Ivory Coast international had a superb start to his Sporting CP career before a notable dip. He has a passing accuracy of 94 percent this term with 60 percent of his duels won.
However, he has been prone to occasional defensive errors, conceding four penalties in all competitions. Despite the early hype, the 21-year-old may not be up to the Gunners’ standard, in our view.
Arsenal could still trust his potential and purchase him. He has a release clause worth £68m in his deal, though Sporting CP could be willing to negotiate a lower package.
The Gunners may consider him as a long-term successor to William Saliba.
