Sparta Prague have confirmed that their sporting director and former Arsenal midfielder, Tomas Rosicky, was hospitalised last week after suffering heart-related issues.
The 44-year-old was admitted to intensive care on Tuesday for urgent assessment and tests. Thankfully, surgery was not required, and Rosicky has since been discharged to continue his recovery at home, where he is receiving further care and treatment.
In a statement published on the club’s official website, Sparta Prague expressed full support for Rosicky and requested privacy for the former Czech Republic international and his family during this difficult time.

“Our sporting director, Tomas Rosicky, was unexpectedly hospitalised in the intensive care unit last Tuesday due to heart-related issues,” the club said. “Neither Tomas nor the club will disclose further details. Fortunately, no surgery was required. Tomas, you have our full support. We’re all thinking of you.”
Sparta Prague also revealed that only close members of Rosicky’s family and the club’s inner circle were informed of the situation prior to his release from hospital late last week.

In his own words, Rosicky acknowledged that the health scare was a wake-up call, prompting him to reassess his lifestyle and well-being.
“As a player and sporting director, I’ve always gone all in. Full effort, no hesitation,” he said. “But this situation has shown me that I need to take better care of myself. Poor lifestyle habits, lack of physical activity, and family predispositions unfortunately brought me here.

“The good news is that I’m expected to make a full recovery, though I’m currently unable to carry out the demanding responsibilities of a sporting director. I’ll remain in touch with my colleagues as we’ve always operated as a team.”
Sparta Prague’s sporting manager, Tomas Sivok, will assume the role of interim sporting director in Rosicky’s absence. Sivok reassured fans that the club’s summer plans — including transfer activity and the search for a new head coach — are progressing as scheduled.
Rosicky, who spent a decade at Arsenal and won the FA Cup in 2014, retired from playing in 2017 and has held the sporting director role at Sparta Prague since 2018.
