Flamengo remain hopeful of landing Arsenal midfielder Jorginho in time for the Club World Cup in June

Flamengo remain in discussions with the representatives of Arsenal midfielder Jorginho about a free transfer this summer and are hopeful of getting a deal done in time for the Club World Cup next month, according to Sky Sports.
The sporting director of the Brazilian Serie A club Jose Boto wants the Italian to leave the Gunners before his current deal expires on June 30.
As a result, an agreement would be required between Arsenal, Flamengo and Jorginho to terminate his contract earlier.
The North London club will hope to reach the final of the Champions League on May 31, and they have a chance of doing so for the first time since 2006 despite losing 1-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the first-leg of the semi-finals at Emirates Stadium earlier this week.
Flamengo kick off their Club World Cup campaign on June 17 when they face ES Tunis, and they are hoping to have Jorginho available.
The ‘unbelievable’ 33-year-old Arsenal star is currently unavailable due to a knock and has played 26 times across all competitions this term after featuring 36 times last season.
He joined the Gunners from Chelsea in January 2023, making 16 appearances that season to help them finish five points behind eventual Premier League winners Manchester City.
