Espanyol goalkeeper and Arsenal target Joan Garcia has an agreement in principle with Manchester City

Espanyol goalkeeper and Arsenal target Joan Garcia has an agreement in principle to join Manchester City, according to Spanish journalist Xavi Espinosa.
It is unknown if the Gunners still want the 24-year-old, but he currently has two other offers on the table having also struck a verbal agreement to join Newcastle United, with a proposal to join Barcelona and leave on loan next season also an option.
Arsenal want Garcia as a cover and competition for David Raya, but it appears they are not one of the favourites to secure his services this summer.
The Espanyol star missed out on the latest Spain call-up despite an impressive campaign with the La Liga outfit and would prefer to move to where he is guaranteed a place in the starting XI next season.
While Arsenal are not giving him the assurance of regular playing time given the form of Raya, Man City are, as Ederson is expected to leave this summer and they want to sign a new number 1.
More suitors are expected to emerge in the coming weeks as Garcia is set to leave Espanyol this summer having appeared to have said his goodbyes at their last home game, and it is safe to say he will not be joining the Gunners from the look of things.
He reportedly prefers to move to the Premier League, but joining Man City or Newcastle ahead of Arsenal is more appealing given his prospects of getting into their starting XI, and the North London club have to start looking elsewhere for goalkeeping reinforcements.
The Emirates Stadium club were forced to bring in Neto on loan from Bournemouth on the last day of the last summer transfer window having left things very late, and they need to avoid a similar situation this summer given how the Brazilian failed to provide the needed challenge they wanted.
