Arsenal are narrowing down their options in the search for a new striker ahead of a busy summer transfer window, with Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko emerging as the most realistic targets, according to journalist David Ornstein.
Mikel Arteta is expected to oversee an active off-season as the Gunners look to bolster their squad, with a top-class centre-forward considered a priority. While several high-profile names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, Ornstein has poured cold water on the likelihood of signings such as Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Ornstein explained: “Arsenal will also look to strengthen in attack — players such as Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon and Benjamin Sesko are on the radar. I don’t think Alexander Isak is going to be realistic, nor the likes of Victor Osimhen and any other names you hear swirling around.”

Gyokeres has impressed in Portugal since joining Sporting, scoring 91 goals and providing 27 assists in just 97 appearances across all competitions. His form has attracted significant attention across Europe, and he is expected to leave this summer.

Sesko, who was previously linked with Arsenal, signed a new deal at Leipzig last summer. However, it reportedly includes a gentleman’s agreement that could allow him to depart in the upcoming window, keeping the door open for a potential move to north London.
Arsenal’s need for a natural number nine has become increasingly evident in recent months, with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz both sidelined due to long-term injuries. The Gunners are currently second in the Premier League but are 12 points adrift of leaders Liverpool with four matches remaining.
