Mohamed Amoura has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a summer move to Arsenal, reaffirming his commitment to Wolfsburg and stating his focus remains firmly on the present.

The 25-year-old Algerian forward enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Bundesliga, scoring ten goals and providing nine assists in 31 appearances after joining Wolfsburg on loan from Belgian side Union SG. Despite missing the start of the campaign through injury, Amoura still managed to rank among the league’s top creators, with only five players registering more assists in the German top flight.

Wolfsburg are expected to make Amoura’s loan deal permanent this summer for a fee in the region of €15 million (£12.6 million). However, reports suggest the Bundesliga club would be open to selling the striker if a bid of around €35 million (£29.5 million) arrives before the transfer deadline.

Interest in Amoura has grown steadily following his breakout season, with Arsenal reportedly making an enquiry about the striker’s availability. Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Bayer Leverkusen have also been monitoring the Algerian’s situation.

Speaking to German publication Kicker, Amoura addressed the transfer speculation, saying: “I’m fully focused on the here and now. I’m very grateful to Wolfsburg – the club has placed its trust in me. My goal is to continue developing. What matters to me is my performance on the pitch and what I can contribute to the team.”

The Gunners, meanwhile, remain in the market for attacking reinforcements after another trophyless campaign. Mikel Arteta has made Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres his top target, with the North London side reportedly leading the race for the £60 million-rated striker.

Addressing the media ahead of Arsenal’s final Premier League game of the season against Southampton, Arteta emphasized the need for more attacking depth going forward.

“The biggest thing is pride,” Arteta said. “We have brought the club into a position where next season: ‘You have to win a major trophy!’”
He added: “What is also clear is that with the amount of injuries we had in the front line, we need a goal threat and more firepower out there. We cannot rely just on previous numbers—we have to add goals, creativity, and depth in different positions.”

Arsenal conclude their 2024/25 campaign this weekend against relegated Southampton as preparations begin for another crucial summer transfer window.
