Arsenal have reportedly made a formal move to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attack ahead of a crucial summer transfer window.
According to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manhã, the Gunners have tabled an official offer worth around £62 million for the Swedish international, who is high on Arteta’s list of attacking targets. The report also claims that Arsenal met with Gyokeres’ agent during the UEFA Women’s Champions League final last weekend, where they presented a contract proposal.
The north London club are believed to have offered the 26-year-old a five-year deal, with an annual salary of £5.8 million and a £10 million signing-on bonus as part of their efforts to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

Gyokeres enjoyed a sensational campaign with Sporting last season, scoring an astonishing 54 goals and providing 13 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions. His prolific form has made him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe, with Arsenal eager to add firepower after narrowly missing out on the Premier League and falling short in the Champions League.

Amid growing speculation about his future, Gyokeres addressed the transfer rumours during a recent interview. Speaking on Sunday, he said: “Let us see. It’s hard for me to say, because it is football and you never know what’s going to happen in the summer. So, for me to say anything else other than that is impossible.”
When pressed specifically about interest from Arsenal, he added: “I don’t know, I just focus on this. I’ve tried to focus on the last games because it’s so important and I don’t want to think about anything else. So yeah, if anything is true, let’s see in the summer.”

Arteta, meanwhile, has confirmed Arsenal’s intent to be active in the transfer market, promising a major summer overhaul ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
“It’s going to be a big one and we are very excited about it,” Arteta said. “The way we planned the first five summers, they were going to be very big and they were going to have different objectives. Now, when we go again, we want to increase the depth of the squad. But as well, we want to increase the quality and the skills that we need to go to the next step.”
If completed, the signing of Gyokeres would represent one of Arsenal’s most significant investments of the window and a clear statement of intent as they aim to end their long wait for silverware.
