Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has urged the Gunners to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, citing the Swedish international’s clinical finishing and young mentality as key attributes that would make him a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Isak has been linked to Arsenal, with many reports suggesting that the Newcastle striker is the Gunners’ dream target as a striker. He has scored 22 goals for the Magpies in 31 Premier League games this season, showcasing his impressive goal-scoring ability.

Sagna believes that Isak’s style of play would suit Arsenal’s approach perfectly. “Alexander Isak suits Arsenal’s style of play perfectly,” Sagna said in an interview with Paddy Power. “He has a young mentality and is very clinical in front of goal. Arsenal is a different team at the minute for these players. They have good enough players to create the danger themselves.”

Sagna emphasized the need for Arsenal to sign a striker with a purpose, a true number nine who can provide consistency and quality in front of goal. “Arsenal need to sign a striker in the summer with a purpose – like a number nine,” he added.

“They’ve had big injuries like Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. That was a blow and is probably why it’s been so difficult to keep the consistency offensively. You need someone to cope, and you need a specialist.”

However, signing Isak may prove challenging, as Newcastle is likely to be reluctant to sell the Swedish international, especially if they secure a Champions League spot.

If Arsenal fails to secure Isak’s signature, they may turn their attention to Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has been linked to the Gunners in recent weeks. Gyokeres has scored 38 goals in 30 Liga Portugal matches for Sporting this season, demonstrating his impressive goal-scoring ability.

Arsenal sporting Director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta will have a lot to do to convince the towering Sweden international to join the Gunners this summer.
