Nico Williams has reportedly begun searching for a house in London as speculation intensifies over a summer move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs ready to trigger his €60 million release clause.

The Athletic Bilbao winger, 22, is widely expected to leave the Basque club in the upcoming transfer window, and sources in Spain claim he has already started preparations for life in England. With Barcelona ruling themselves out of the race due to Raphinha’s form and other priorities, the path appears clear for Premier League clubs to swoop in.

Arsenal are currently seen as frontrunners to secure Williams’ signature. Talks have reportedly been held between the player’s representatives and newly appointed Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta.

According to TBR Football, Williams has expressed a willingness to join Mikel Arteta’s side, though his reported wage demands, believed to exceed €300,000 per week could be a potential hurdle.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has already promised a “big summer” in the transfer market, following a trophyless campaign.

Speaking in April, Arteta said: “It’s going to be a big one and we are very excited about it. We want to increase the depth of the squad but also the quality and the skills needed to take the next step.”

The club is already pushing ahead with moves to strengthen the squad, with midfield star Martin Zubimendi reportedly close to sealing a move to the Emirates, a deal that transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently given his “Here we go!” approval.

Williams, who has impressed with his pace, dribbling and attacking flair, fits the profile of the kind of signing Arsenal are targeting as they aim to mount a stronger title challenge next season.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain suggest that Arteta has already disrupted Barcelona’s transfer plans by moving decisively for both Williams and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, two players also linked with the Catalan club.
