Arsenal could face a tough battle to retain key defender Gabriel Magalhães, with reports indicating renewed interest from Saudi Arabian clubs in the Brazilian centre-back.

Gabriel, who joined the Gunners from Lille in 2020 for £27 million, has grown into one of Mikel Arteta’s most trusted players. Forming a formidable partnership with William Saliba, the 27-year-old was instrumental in Arsenal’s defensive solidity last season—helping the team keep more clean sheets than any other Premier League side and earning a spot in the PFA Team of the Year.

According to UOL, several clubs from the Saudi Pro League—as well as teams in Europe—have already made approaches for the player, despite his current absence due to a hamstring injury. Arsenal, however, have no intention of letting Gabriel go and are reportedly considering a new contract offer to fend off interest. His current deal runs until 2027.

Gabriel has made 42 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals, and has played over 200 games for the club since his arrival in 2020. While it remains unclear whether the Brazilian would entertain a move to Saudi Arabia, his recent public shows of support for the club suggest his heart remains in north London.

Although sidelined for the remainder of the season, Gabriel has been a visible presence off the pitch. He was in attendance as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace and was seen passionately supporting his teammates. Ahead of that match, his partner Gabrielle Figueiredo shared a video of the pair singing “North London Forever,” a moment Gabriel reposted on social media.

With Arsenal set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, Gabriel will not feature but is expected to be a vocal supporter from the stands, just as he was during the dramatic quarter-final win over Real Madrid.

Arsenal will hope to secure his long-term future soon, as keeping hold of one of their defensive pillars will be crucial for their continued pursuit of domestic and European success.
