Arsenal are laying the foundations for a major squad revamp ahead of the 2025/26 season, with the upcoming summer transfer window expected to bring a wave of changes at the Emirates Stadium. While the Gunners remain in contention for their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, preparations for a long-term squad rebuild are already well underway.
With a Premier League clash against Crystal Palace looming on Wednesday, manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are working behind the scenes to reshape the team. Sources suggest that more than seven first-team players could leave this summer, with the goalkeeping department expected to be among the first areas to undergo significant changes.
David Raya has firmly established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, with his standout performances this season making him a key figure in Arteta’s plans moving forward.

However, there are expected to be changes in the supporting cast. Goalkeeping coach Iñaki Caña is championing a move for Espanyol’s Joan García, one of La Liga’s most promising shot-stoppers. The 23-year-old is seen as an ideal backup to Raya, but convincing him to accept a secondary role could prove challenging given his rising profile in Spain.
Veteran goalkeeper Neto, who has seen limited minutes this season, is expected to return to Bournemouth when his loan spell expires in June.

In a boost to Arsenal’s youth project, academy goalkeeper Alexei Rojas has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2026. As reported by Simon Collings, the 19-year-old is now set for promotion to the first team next season.
Rojas has been with Arsenal since the age of 13 and signed his first professional deal last summer. His progress has been closely monitored, and he has regularly trained with the senior squad this season, working alongside Raya, Neto, and fellow academy product Tommy Setford.

A club source confirmed: “The plan is for Rojas to work regularly with the first team next season. With four goalkeepers usually involved in training sessions, he’ll get the chance to learn and grow alongside top-level professionals.”
The Gunners boast a growing pool of goalkeeping talent in their academy. Alongside Rojas and Setford, Jack Porter and Lucas Nygaard are also viewed as players with strong potential.
Although Rojas has yet to make his senior debut, he has already featured on the bench for first-team fixtures and was part of the club’s pre-season tour to the United States last summer. On the international stage, he recently represented Colombia at the 2025 South American U20 Championship, helping the team finish third.
