Arsenal are monitoring developments in Spain as Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has reportedly informed the club of his desire to leave this summer, with tensions between the Brazilian star and the Spanish giants said to have reached breaking point.

According to reports from Marca, Rodrygo is adamant he will not play for Real Madrid again, frustrated with his role under Carlo Ancelotti and increasingly disillusioned by his standing within the squad. The 24-year-old is said to be unhappy with both his reduced influence on the pitch and the strained relationships with several of his teammates.

Despite contributing 13 goals and 10 assists in 50 appearances this season, Rodrygo was left out of the starting lineup for El Clasico against Barcelona—a decision that has only intensified speculation surrounding his future. Sources close to the player claim that the growing media attention surrounding Jude Bellingham and the impending arrival of Kylian Mbappé has left Rodrygo feeling sidelined, while also adding pressure to maintain his place in a star-studded attack.

The situation has reportedly deteriorated further in recent weeks, with Rodrygo shifting from considering a summer departure to now being determined to leave the Santiago Bernabéu. His frustrations are believed to stem from a perceived lack of recognition and trust, particularly in light of his €45 million transfer from Santos in 2018 and his steady progression since.

Real Madrid are believed to be growing weary of Rodrygo’s attitude, while no final decision has been made, the club is now open to listening to offers, with a price tag of around €100 million (£85m) reportedly set.

Premier League sides Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all said to be interested, but Arsenal are emerging as one of the leading contenders. The Gunners have already made contact with Real Madrid to express their interest in a potential summer deal.

Mikel Arteta’s side are preparing for a big summer of recruitment, with midfield reinforcements already underway. Arsenal are reportedly close to finalising a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, despite competition from Real Madrid.

A new striker also remains a priority, with Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak among the names on Arsenal’s shortlist. However, the availability of Rodrygo could tempt the Gunners to pivot towards strengthening their wide options, especially with a marquee talent now openly seeking an exit.
