Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice could be out of season with suspected hamstring issue

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice could be out of the season after missing the Premier League game against Liverpool yesterday due to a muscular issue believed to be a hamstring strain, according to the BBC.

The England international missed the trip to Anfield with a suspected hamstring issue as he could not train with the rest of the Gunners team before the game.

Rice is said to be recovering from the problem, and while there is hope the injury is not serious, Arsenal medics will not take any unnecessary risks with him.

The North London club are back in action on Sunday when they host Newcastle United, and they will be desperate to pick up all three points and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

A trip to relegated Southampton on the last day of the season follows, and they cannot afford to drop points against the Magpies given what is at stake.

The Gunners need just two more points to secure a place in the league phase of the elite European competition, but they may have to play their next game or both without Rice.
