Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their interest in Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincão, with Portuguese outlet Record claiming the Gunners have begun talks over a potential summer move.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed an impressive campaign under Rúben Amorim, registering nine goals and 18 assists across all competitions. His standout performances have caught the eye of several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, who reportedly made him a top attacking target earlier this year.
According to Record, Arsenal are one of three Premier League sides actively pursuing the Portugal international and have scouted him extensively throughout the season. Manager Mikel Arteta is believed to be a keen admirer of the former Barcelona forward.

Sporting are currently in discussions to extend Trincão’s contract, which runs until 2027 and contains a release clause of €80 million (£66.5 million). The Lisbon-based club initially signed Trincão on loan from Barcelona in 2022 before making the move permanent for €7 million (£6 million) the following summer.

Barcelona, however, retained a €25 million (£20.8 million) buyback option valid until 2026, as well as 50% of any future transfer fee—an important consideration for any potential suitors.

Francisco Trincão is no stranger to English football, having spent the 2021–22 season on loan at Wolves. While the Midlands club opted against a permanent deal, the winger has since flourished at Sporting, becoming a key figure in Amorim’s attacking system.
Speaking in November about his future, Trincão said: “We have not spoken yet about my contract renewal. Everyone knows I am happy here at Sporting. I am very happy, I love Lisbon, this is my club.”
Arsenal are also interested in another Sporting player, with Viktor Gyökeres among the names heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Despite some reservations about his adaptability and suitability for the Premier League, sporting director Andrea Berta has identified the former Coventry striker as a top target for the Gunners.
