Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Atlético Madrid and Argentine forward Julián Álvarez this summer, according to El Chiringuito. The Gunners are said to be among three interested parties, along with Liverpool and Bayern Munich, looking to sign the former Manchester City player.
Álvarez has had a successful debut campaign under Diego Simeone, scoring 29 goals and providing six assists in 53 appearances. His impressive form has sparked interest from top European clubs, and Atlético Madrid are expected to demand around £100m to sell him.
Arsenal’s new Sporting Director, Andrea Berta, played a key role in signing Álvarez from Manchester City last summer for a reported £64m, which could rise to £81m plus add-ons.

Berta’s ties with Atlético Madrid could prove beneficial in negotiations for the player’s acquisition.
The 5ft 7in Álvarez is known for his uncanny eye for goal and ability to create chances. He has created 39 chances in La Liga this season, placing him in the 95th percentile among strikers. Despite his profile being unlike any striker Arsenal have been linked to in recent weeks, he has the potential to be a quality addition to the Arsenal attack.
However, the price tag may prove divisive, and the Gunners would need to justify a big-money move. Fans are divided on the potential signing, with some questioning Mikel Arteta’s obsession with Manchester City rejects.

“Not another City reject,” said Paul, a fan. “When will Arteta learn?” Others, like Davi, believe Álvarez is a top player who would be a great addition to the team. “He’s a top player and definitely better than what we have right now. He’s good enough we’d adjust our tactics to fit him in, if necessary.”
