Arsenal join Liverpool and Chelsea in race to sign Brighton forward

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion forward João Pedro as part of their plans to bolster their attacking options this summer, according to The Telegraph. After a season marked by inconsistent finishing, the Gunners are determined to add firepower to their frontline, with Pedro emerging as one of several targets.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has impressed in his debut season at Brighton, scoring 10 goals and providing 7 assists across all competitions. Since making the switch from Watford in 2023, Pedro has racked up 30 goals in 70 appearances, showcasing his versatility and ability to operate as a striker, attacking midfielder, or winger.

Pedro’s performances have caught the attention of multiple Premier League giants. Liverpool are reportedly eyeing him as a potential successor to Darwin Núñez, while Chelsea are also monitoring the player closely as they search for more consistent attacking options. Arsenal now find themselves in a competitive race for one of English football’s most exciting young forwards.

Sporting are believed to be open to selling the 26-year-old if their €70 million (£60m) valuation is met. Arsenal are eager to strike early in the transfer window amid growing competition from other European clubs.

According to The Mirror’s John Cross, Berta is preparing a lucrative contract worth over £200,000-a-week to lure Gyökeres to the Emirates—potentially making him one of the club’s highest earners. The deal would represent a return to English football for the Sweden international, who previously played for Brighton and Coventry City.

With Mikel Arteta’s side looking to take the next step in their pursuit of Premier League and European glory, attacking reinforcements are seen as crucial. Both João Pedro and Viktor Gyökeres present attractive options, and Arsenal appear ready to spend big in pursuit of a more clinical edge next season.
