Arsenal in advanced talks over new Gabriel contract

Arsenal are reportedly in advanced discussions with Gabriel Magalhaes about a new contract, according to the BBC’s Sami Mokbel.
The Brazilian has developed a strong partnership with William Saliba in the heart of Arsenal’s defence. They have formed one of the best centre-back pairings in Europe.
Gabriel joined from Lille for around £27 million in 2020. He has subsequently become one of the top defenders in the game.
Arsenal now appear ready to reward his progress with an improved deal. Talks are progressing well as the Gunners move to secure his long-term future.
The 26-year-old has drawn interest from top European and Saudi Pro League clubs.
His current deal runs until June 2027. However, Arsenal are eager to fend off interest and keep him at the Emirates Stadium.
Key figure under Arteta expected to stay

Gabriel is known for his strong tackling, reading of the game, and sharp positioning. These qualities have helped Arsenal improve defensively.
He also contributes going forward, especially from set pieces. Gabriel has bagged five goals and three assists in all competitions this season.
His aerial presence has helped the team become a threat from corners and free-kicks.
The news of a contract extension is a major boost for Arsenal. The club are preparing for a key summer with several important signings expected.
Gabriel has become a key figure under Mikel Arteta. His leadership and consistency have been crucial in recent seasons.
His 2024/25 campaign ended early in April after a hamstring injury. He later required surgery and was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Despite the setback, he is expected to recover in time for pre-season. The coaching staff are confident he will be ready for the start of next season.
