Arsenal injury woes continue to mount as the Gunners prepare for their final two matches of the season, with key players Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard potentially sidelined through injury.
Mikel Arteta has already dealt with a depleted squad for much of the campaign, and the situation shows little sign of improving. Arsenal, currently sitting second in the Premier League, are set to host top-five hopefuls Newcastle before travelling to relegated Southampton, but will likely do so without two influential figures.
Declan Rice was a notable absentee in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, having played a full 90 minutes in the Champions League semi-final just days earlier. Arteta confirmed after the game that Rice had been unable to train in the lead-up due to a hip problem.

“Declan couldn’t even train so he’s injured, unfortunately, and couldn’t make the game,” Arteta said.
🚨Declan Rice missed the game against Liverpool on Sunday with a hamstring strain, as per @SamiMokbel_BBC.
The club are hoping the issue is not serious but no risks will be taken with the player for the final two games of the season.

According to BBC Sport, Rice is now recovering from a hamstring issue. While the club is hopeful the injury is not serious, medical staff are expected to err on the side of caution and may sideline the England international for the remainder of the campaign.

Trossard, who started in the central striker role against Liverpool, was forced off in the second half after appearing to suffer a hamstring injury. The Belgian had drifted into wide areas to good effect but signalled to the bench in discomfort before being substituted.
Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber, who returned to action in the midweek clash against PSG, was named on the bench at Anfield but was never in contention to feature.
“We brought him to see if he was better but it was clear that he was not fit to play,” Arteta added. However, Timber’s inclusion in the travelling squad suggests his issue is not long-term, and he may yet be available for the Newcastle match.
