Arsenal’s pursuit of Rafael Leão has received a significant boost, with reports in Italy claiming that AC Milan have lowered their asking price for the Portuguese winger amid growing speculation over his future.

The 25-year-old did not feature in Milan’s final Serie A match of the season—a 2-0 home win over Monza—fueling rumours of an imminent departure. Leão remained on the bench throughout the match, as goals from Matteo Gabbia and João Félix sealed a victory that saw Milan finish a disappointing seventh in the table, missing out on Champions League football for next season.

Leão’s recent activity on social media has further intensified speculation. Supporters were quick to notice that the winger removed all references to AC Milan from his Instagram bio shortly after the season finale. With the club not scheduled to play again until a pre-season clash against Arsenal in late July, there is growing belief that Leão may line up on the opposite side by then.

According to reports from Foot Mercato, Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has already made contact with Leão, speaking with him directly on the phone earlier this month. The former Sporting Lisbon and Lille star is believed to be high on Berta’s shortlist as the Gunners aim to strengthen the left flank of Mikel Arteta’s attack.

Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring other wide players, including Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. Such interest could place Gabriel Martinelli’s starting role under threat should a marquee winger arrive this summer.

Leão joined AC Milan in 2019 for a reported £32 million and has gone on to score 70 goals in 259 appearances. Though he has three years remaining on his current deal, Milan had previously deterred suitors with a £150 million price tag. However, with the player reportedly seeking a new challenge and showing signs of detachment from the club, Milan are now said to be open to offers in the region of £66 million.

In addition to Leão, Arsenal continue to be linked with a number of centre-forwards. Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres remains a top target, while RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško is also under consideration as the Gunners look to reshape their attack ahead of the new campaign.
