Arsenal have reportedly added in-form Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman to their summer transfer shortlist as Mikel Arteta seeks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of next season. However, the Gunners face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Italian giants Juventus.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal are seriously considering a move for the 27-year-old Nigerian international, who is believed to be exploring a new challenge this summer in what could be a pivotal phase of his career. Lookman, whose current deal with Atalanta runs until 2027, is not expected to come cheap.
Lookman has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in Serie A, emerging as one of Atalanta’s key players and helping the club claim European honours. Once deemed surplus to requirements at RB Leipzig, the former Fulham loanee has become a consistent attacking threat, registering 18 goals and seven assists so far this season.

However, his future in Bergamo appears uncertain following a reported fallout with manager Gian Piero Gasperini. Tensions escalated after Gasperini made what Lookman described as “deeply disrespectful” comments following a missed penalty in the Champions League earlier this year.

Lookman could yet add to his impressive goal tally when Atalanta take on Monza this weekend in Serie A. But speculation around his future continues to intensify, with top European clubs circling.

Arsenal, who are preparing for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, remain focused on finishing the season strongly. However, plans are already being drawn up for the summer transfer window, with newly appointed sporting director Andrea Berta expected to be heavily involved in recruitment.
A central striker remains Arsenal’s top priority, with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres frequently linked to the Emirates. Yet, the lack of consistent depth on the left wing has also become a concern for Arteta, with Gabriel Martinelli lacking a reliable alternative. The addition of Lookman—or Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, another rumoured target—could provide a much-needed boost to Arsenal’s attacking depth.
