Arsenal are gearing up for a significant week in the summer transfer window, with sporting director Edu Gaspar set to initiate multiple deals. The Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season, potentially completing up to four transfers.
The summer transfer window is expected to be particularly active, as clubs rush to finalise deals before the 2023-24 accounting deadline. Financial pressures are mounting on several Premier League teams, who must balance their books to comply with the league’s profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR).
Clubs like Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, and Chelsea face the risk of breaching these regulations, possibly triggering a wave of player sales by June 30.

Arsenal see this as an opportunity to bolster their squad, targeting players from these financially pressured clubs. The Gunners are determined to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title against Manchester City.
One of Arsenal’s primary targets is Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who is considered a dream signing for the Gunners. Manager Mikel Arteta admires the Swedish international, though negotiations may prove difficult as Newcastle is reluctant to sell the 24-year-old star.

Newcastle’s pursuit of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin might influence Isak’s future and Arsenal could potentially exploit this situation with a strategic bid.
Another Newcastle player on Arsenal’s radar is Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. The Gunners have long been interested in Guimaraes, and his addition would significantly strengthen their midfield alongside Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice. However, Guimaraes’ hefty price tag of around £100 million poses a substantial challenge.

Everton’s financial struggles are no secret, and midfielder Amadou Onana could be sacrificed to raise funds. Currently representing Belgium at Euro 2024, Onana has previously expressed his desire to play for a top club.

In an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws, Onana said, “At previous tournaments, you have seen that the players who did well make the step up to the top clubs. That’s something I strive for. I feel like presenting myself to the European top and showing what I have to offer. This European Championship is a stage.”
Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher is another potential target for Arsenal. Entering the final year of his contract, the midfielder has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Reports indicate that Arsenal have inquired about Gallagher’s availability, with Aston Villa and Tottenham also expressing interest.
Valued at £42 million, Gallagher’s contract runs until 2025, potentially making him available at a lower price. It remains uncertain if Chelsea would sell to a direct rival, but such a deal could be mutually beneficial.
