Arsenal have emerged as surprise contenders to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho this summer, according to fresh reports suggesting the Argentine starlet could leave Old Trafford in the coming months.

Garnacho, 20, has been one of United’s standout performers in an otherwise dismal campaign, but the club’s failure to secure European football — coupled with continued internal unrest — has opened the door for a potential exit. Despite his rising profile and consistent contributions, tensions behind the scenes may be pushing the talented winger towards the exit.

According to TBR Football, Garnacho is said to be “quite upset” with manager Rúben Amorim’s tactical decisions, particularly his exclusion from the starting XI in the recent Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur. The Argentine only featured for the final 20 minutes in Bilbao and has since reportedly expressed frustration over his role at the club.

In response to his dissatisfaction, Garnacho’s representatives have allegedly begun exploring a move away from Manchester and have made contact with Arsenal to sound out interest. Sources indicate that a switch to north London is under serious consideration, especially with the Gunners understood to be seeking additional firepower on the wings.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to reinforce his attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. While Bukayo Saka remains undisputed first choice on the right, competition and rotation options are thin on both flanks. Garnacho’s ability to play on either wing makes him a highly attractive proposition.

With Gabriel Martinelli struggling for form and fitness at times, Arteta is said to be looking for a dynamic wide player who can offer pace, directness, and end product — traits that Garnacho has already showcased in the Premier League. Despite United’s poor overall form, the winger has recorded 16 goals in 93 appearances and is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the league.

Though Manchester United would be reluctant to sell to a direct rival, financial pressures and Garnacho’s desire for regular starts at a top-level club could force their hand. Arsenal, for their part, are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer as they look to build on three consecutive second-place finishes and mount a serious challenge for major silverware.

With three full Premier League seasons under his belt at just 20 years old, Garnacho could prove a transformative signing for the Gunners.
