Arsenal supporters have called on owner Stan Kroenke to invest heavily in a world-class striker this summer following Liverpool’s Premier League title win.

The Gunners appear set for a third consecutive second-place finish, and fans believe a major signing in the summer transfer window could finally propel them to the top. With Arsenal not in action over the weekend, supporters had time to reflect — and Liverpool’s dominant 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield, which sealed their 20th English league title, only intensified demands for change.

Adding to the frustration, on the same day, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres turned heads by scoring four goals in a 5-0 rout of Boavista. The Swedish striker’s staggering tally now stands at 52 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches across all competitions this season. His form has sparked widespread speculation about a move away from Sporting, and Arsenal fans are desperate for the club to join the race for his signature.

Following Liverpool’s title-clinching win, a viral post from an Arsenal fan summed up the mood: “Hope Arteta had the squad watching that together at the training ground.” Another supporter added: “It’s his fault and the Kroenkes for the outrageous decision not to sign attackers in the summer. They might have f***ed the whole project.”

News of Gyökeres’ latest heroics quickly spread across Arsenal fan accounts on X , sparking a flood of transfer pleas. One fan posted: “We MUST sign Gyökeres or else this project is done.” Another simply pleaded: “@Arsenal please go and sign Viktor Gyökeres this summer!!” A third fan wrote: “Viktor Gyökeres scored FOUR goals for Sporting tonight. That’s 51 goals for club and country this season. I don’t care what your opinion is, just bring him to Arsenal. Clinical.”

Arsenal’s lack of a prolific striker has been a consistent criticism during Mikel Arteta’s tenure. The issue became glaring this season when injuries sidelined key attackers Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli simultaneously. Arteta even experimented with midfielder Mikel Merino up front, but despite some success, it’s clear a top-class forward is needed.

While the Gunners are expected to finalise a £51 million move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, strengthening the attack remains a priority. New sporting director Andrea Berta has identified RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams as targets. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, however, is considered too expensive, and with heavy interest from other clubs, Gyökeres may also command a hefty fee — potentially putting him out of Arsenal’s reach.

Nonetheless, fans are making it clear: if Arsenal are serious about ending their title drought, a marquee striker signing this summer is essential.
