Arsenal transfer target Joan Garcia has hinted that he could be on the move this summer after a standout season with Espanyol.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper has earned widespread acclaim for his performances in La Liga, emerging as one of Europe’s most promising young shot-stoppers. His consistent displays were instrumental in helping his boyhood club retain their top-flight status.
Now, the Spain Under-21 international appears ready to take the next step in his career, with a host of top clubs — including Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Barcelona — reportedly interested in securing his signature.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was keen on signing Garcia last summer, but the Gunners were unwilling to meet Espanyol’s £21 million release clause. Instead, Arsenal turned to a short-term solution by bringing in Brazilian goalkeeper Neto on loan from Bournemouth. Neto is unlikely to join permanently, and with academy prospects Jack Porter and Tommy Setford still developing, the North London club is once again in the market for a reliable No. 2 goalkeeper.

Garcia would likely compete with David Raya for the starting spot should he move to the Emirates, though he may consider clubs where a first-choice role is more guaranteed.
Speaking to Relevo, Garcia gave the strongest indication yet that his time at Espanyol may be coming to an end.

“Everyone knows a little about the situation I’m in and the situation the club is in,” he said. “Whatever happens, if I leave, I’ll be proud to leave the team still in La Liga. I hope my family can continue coming to the stadium with a team in the top flight, and I hope that continues for many years.”
Garcia is also being monitored by Aston Villa, who are preparing for the possible departure of Emiliano Martinez. The Argentine World Cup winner appeared emotional as he waved to fans during Villa’s final home match of the season, sparking speculation about his future. Martinez, who joined Villa from Arsenal in 2020 for £20 million, has been linked with both Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.
With a summer of goalkeeper movement expected across Europe, Joan Garcia could find himself at the heart of one of the transfer window’s most intriguing sagas.
