Arsenal are preparing for a major summer rebuild, with newly appointed Sporting Director Andrea Berta actively working on deals to bring in top attacking reinforcements. According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Berta has set his sights on Real Madrid winger Rodrygo and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman as potential signings.

Following another season without silverware, finishing second in the Premier League behind Liverpool and falling short in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain, the Gunners are set to launch an aggressive transfer campaign to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Expectations had been high after last season’s strong title challenge, but Arsenal’s wait for a Premier League trophy will now stretch into a third decade. Despite falling short, the club remains confident that with improved squad depth and attacking firepower, they can compete for major honours.

Plettenberg reports that Arsenal are prioritising the signing of at least one top-class attacker this summer. Berta, described as “very active” in negotiations, has already initiated talks with the representatives of Rodrygo and Lookman, as well as their respective clubs.

Rodrygo, who is highly rated within the Emirates hierarchy, is seen as a marquee option. However, his valuation, estimated at €100 million (£84 million) makes a deal challenging. Lookman, who has impressed in Serie A and was recently named CAF African Footballer of the Year, is viewed as a more cost-effective alternative at €60 million (£50 million). His versatility across the front line also appeals to Arsenal.

Both players have enjoyed good seasons, combining for over 50 goal contributions, but Arsenal are more likely to move for one rather than both, given the significant financial outlay required.

Arsenal are also working on deals to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres. In addition to targeting attacking reinforcements, the club is expected to announce the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, with a deal reportedly already agreed.

Arsenal are pursuing multiple targets across various positions as they aim to build a squad capable of ending their long wait for silverware.
