As the 2024-25 Premier League season nears its conclusion, Arsenal are intensifying their preparations for a transformative summer transfer window, with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon emerging as a prime target.

The 24-year-old winger has caught the attention of Mikel Arteta’s recruitment team, who are eager to bolster the Gunners’ attacking options to end their trophy drought in the 2025-26 campaign.

Gordon’s performances for Newcastle have been nothing short of electric. With nine goals and seven assists in 32 Premier League appearances this season, the former Everton star has established himself as a dynamic force on the flanks.

His ability to score crucial goals against top sides, including Arsenal, and his knack for delivering in big moments—evidenced by his contributions in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup semi-final against the Gunners—make him an ideal fit for Arteta’s high-intensity system.

Posts on X and reports from sources like Football Insider indicate Arsenal are “accelerating” their move, with a potential £80m price tag being discussed.

However, prising Gordon away from Newcastle won’t be straightforward. Eddie Howe has expressed frustration at the persistent links with the Gunners, and with Newcastle sitting third in the Premier League, they view Gordon and teammate Alexander Isak as integral to their ambitions.

Both players, contracted until 2028, are seen as untouchable, with some suggesting a move to Arsenal would be a “sideways step” given Newcastle’s rise. Financial constraints could force Newcastle to consider “huge” offers, but Arsenal face competition from Chelsea, who are also reportedly interested.

Arteta’s interest in Gordon aligns with his broader strategy to strengthen the squad’s depth, particularly on the left wing, where Gabriel Martinelli’s future remains uncertain.

With sporting director Andrea Berta reportedly armed with a £300m war chest, the club are also pursuing targets like Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres, signaling an aggressive approach.

As the transfer window looms, Gordon’s potential arrival could be the spark Arsenal need to ignite their title charge.
