Jakub Kiwior’s next club revealed ahead of summer transfer window

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior is reportedly linked to a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, with French giants Marseille interested in his signature, according to French media outlet Foot Mercato.

The Polish international has been a subject of interest for several clubs in recent months, with Serie A teams previously showing admiration for his skills.

Marseille, who are looking to strengthen their defence ahead of the summer window, have included Kiwior in their extensive list of potential targets. Despite the sudden interest, reports suggest that the French club has been tracking the player for a while.

Kiwior has performed commendably for Arsenal since the loss of Gabriel for the rest of the campaign. However, he remains a backup option within the team, and it’s likely that he’ll look to make a move in the near future. Since joining Arsenal in January 2023, Kiwior has made only 65 appearances in red and white, highlighting the competition for places in the team.

Jakub Kiwior has been in top form for Arsenal since replacing injured Gabriel Magalhães at the heart of the Arsenal defence. As the only like-for-like replacement for Gabriel at the heart of the defence, Kiwior provides essential cover and rotation options for the backline. Allowing him to stay would enable Arsenal to save resources and focus on other areas of need, such as midfield and attack.

However, if Marseille were to make a substantial offer for Kiwior, it might be challenging for Arsenal to resist. A reported £30m bid could be tempting, especially if the player pushes for a move.

The potential departure of Kiwior would leave Arsenal with a decision to make regarding their defensive options.

The Gunners could consider activating the £50m clause in Dean Huijsen’s contract, which would provide a potential solution to their defensive needs.

Arsenal will likely end this season without a major trophy after their only hope of a European trophy was dashed by PSG, who defeated the Gunners 3:1 on aggregate in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The Gunners also sit second in the Premier League, a position they have maintained for the past two seasons, with the league already won by Liverpool.
