Arsenal have been linked with a surprise summer move for Manchester United winger Antony, as the Brazilian begins to rediscover his form during a loan spell at Real Betis.
Antony, who joined United from Ajax in 2022 for a staggering £82 million, struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford and was loaned out to La Liga side Real Betis in January. The 25-year-old has since enjoyed a resurgence in Spain, emerging as one of Betis’ standout players in the second half of the season.
Betis are reportedly eager to make the move permanent, but according to Brazilian outlet UOL, they may face stiff competition. Both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are said to have enquired about the winger’s availability ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to part ways with Antony, but are hoping to recoup at least £25 million from his sale — a significant drop from his original fee but reflective of his struggles in the Premier League.

Despite the interest from other clubs, Antony has hinted at a desire to remain in Spain, citing improved happiness and a better environment for his family.

“I found myself, I needed to find myself and be happy,” he said. “I needed my family to be happy too. Every day that goes by I see that it was the best decision I could have made. I’m enjoying the city, the club, and everything. It reminds me a lot of Brazil because of the sun, the food — the people are also very happy. All of that is important for someone like me who is used to it.”
Real Betis are hopeful they can convince both the player and Manchester United to make the deal permanent. Speaking last month, the club’s chief executive, Ramon Alarcón, said there is growing optimism.
“When we spoke about the possibility to bring Antony in January, I saw it more distant than I see now him staying,” Alarcón said. “It’s because both Manchester United and the player have seen that Real Betis is a great place for him to develop. Right now I’m more optimistic than in January.”
