Arsenal are poised to reignite their interest in Real Madrid’s Brazilian star Rodrygo Goes this summer, as the Gunners aim to bolster their attack following a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

According to Goal.com and Just Arsenal News, Real Madrid have opened the door for a potential transfer, with the 24-year-old winger reportedly considering his future after falling down the pecking order behind Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr.

Rodrygo, who contributed 18 goals and nine assists last season, has struggled for consistency in 2024/25, scoring just one goal in his last three months.

His frustration, compounded by Real Madrid’s Champions League exit to Arsenal, has fueled speculation, with Marca reporting he may leave unless new manager Xabi Alonso convinces him to stay. Arsenal, alongside Liverpool and Manchester United, are among the clubs circling, with Madrid demanding around £85m (€100m) for the versatile forward.

Mikel Arteta sees Rodrygo as a dynamic addition to Arsenal’s frontline, capable of playing across the attacking line, particularly on the right. However, his preference for a starting role could complicate negotiations, as Bukayo Saka dominates Arsenal’s right flank. Arsenal’s rising stature and Champions League ambitions could sway Rodrygo, but they must outline a clear role for him.

The Gunners’ transfer strategy also includes interest in Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and Arda Güler, though Rodrygo remains the priority.

Arsenal’s funds may hinge on outgoings, with Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko potentially leaving. Fans on X are buzzing, with posts like “Rodrygo could be our Özil-level signing!” echoing Arsenal’s bold 2013 coup.

Yet, competition from Manchester United, who are “leading the race” per The Sun, adds urgency. As Arsenal prepare for their Champions League semi-final second leg against PSG, securing Rodrygo could signal their intent to dominate both domestically and in Europe.
